COVID-19 demonstrated the fragility of global supply chains, yet there remains a genuine question about whether Australia has learned any lessons from this great global reset and sought to build greater security into our food systems. Our guest speaker at this lunch is Andrew Henderson, the lead author of a recent Green Paper asking whether the time has come for Australia to develop a formal national food security plan. Issued by the Australian Strategic Policy Institute, the paper focuses on fertiliser, access to chemicals and digital connectivity. |

Trump, tariffs and (free) tradeThe Hon. Andrew Robb AO, one of Australian agriculture’s fiercest and longest-standing free trade advocates, spoke at a recent Farm Writers lunch to explain how the tariffs being introduced by US President Trump might all play out and what they could mean for the agriculture sector. With deep experience as a former Australian trade and investment minister, and a former chief executive of the Cattle Council of Australia and then the National Farmers’ Federation, Andrew is excellently placed to explore this topic. |
